About David Cady
 

DAVID CADY is presently a commercial casting director at Donna DeSeta Casting, which he joined in 1991.  There he has personally cast in the area of 600 television commercials for clients that include Disney, Pepsi, Burger King, Target, NY Lottery and many, many others. 

 David has over twenty years of experience in several areas of show business, beginning his professional career as an actor in the 1981 Broadway company of the Stephen Sondheim musical "Merrily We Roll Along," directed by Harold Prince.  He also played Peter Van Daan in "Yours, Anne," an off-Broadway chamber opera based on Anne Frank's "The Diary of a Young Girl."  Additional acting roles took him to regional theaters around the US and Canada, working with actors as diverse as Bebe Neuwirth,   Herschel Bernardi, and Alison Fraser.

 In 1986, David left acting to pursue a career in casting.  His first affiliation was with casting director Bonnie Timmermann, with whom he worked on such films as "Dirty Dancing," "Ironweed," and "Beverly Hills Cop II" and the television series "Miami Vice and "Crime Story."  Subsequently, he worked with casting director Howard Feuer on "Stella" and "An Innocent Man," and was the sole casting director for the off-Broadway production of Randy Newman's "The Middle of Nowhere."  During this period, he was a writing apprentice on the Broadway musical "Grind," again directed by Harold Prince.

 Also at DeSeta Casting, David was co-casting director for the world premieres of Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Whistle Down the Wind" in Washington D.C. and Michael John LaCuisa's "The Petrified Prince" for the NY Shakespeare Festival.  Mr. Prince directed both productions.

 A graduate of NYU with a BFA in acting, David worked at Playwright's Horizons, and has received numerous writing grants.
